Marathon, Ontario

Here we are the 2nd day of the journey in Marathon, Ontario.  We left Serpent River Campground about 730 am.  Arrived at the municipality ran campground Penn Lake River Campground at 330pm.  40$ a night for 50 amp, water and sewer.  A lovely little campground.  There are 2 sites that can accommodate larger trailers #1 and 2.  Al successfully reserved #2.  We took a walk almost around the lake--had to get back before more rains came.  Beautiful shore with a playground nearby.  Great for families.

After we got set up, we took a tour of Marathon.  That took about 10 minutes.  Population is 3500.  The scenery is beautiful.  But, not much else around.  A tiny shopping centre---and if you think you are going to spend all day at it, you are wrong.  Probably the best shop in it was either the grocery store or the Bargain Shop.  People must go to Thunder Bay to shop, or do a lot of on line shopping.  Ya, I would not last!

A rainy day.  Dull and dreary.  Nothing to exciting along the way.  Like how exciting can Wawa be?  And taking NO chances we filled up at the Esso.  The road was still bumpy as expected!

There were a few signs of 'Watch for Moose' but we didn't see any.  We did see a coyote run across the road with a cat in its mouth.  Mother Nature!

Here are a couple more pictures of the view we had driving today.  Lots of windmills and lots of views of Lake Superior!
